Just make sure there is no accessible water in the house for them to drink, check the basement.It is not necessary to put them in a hotel over a couple of mice, tell them you will let them out of their lease if they wish, that should quiet them since it is unlikely they want to move.

The caulk prevents 'other' liquids from getting underneath, and I don't just mean when the floor is mopped; bad aim, overflows, drinking too much the night before, etc.
