mice in rental-Montana

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone new in Montana if it was the landlords responsibility to deal with mice.  I have a tenant that just notified me today that they have caught 2 mice and supposedly have seen baby mice today.  They are asking for an exterminator and for us to put them in a hotel.  If it is our responsibility, does it ever fall on them due to cleanliness?

It is your responsibility, set traps or put out rat poison.

I prefer the poison and find that the mice will leave the house to find water. Just make sure there is no accessible water in the house for them to drink, check the basement.

It is not necessary to put them in a hotel over a couple of mice, tell them you will let them out of their lease if they wish, that should quiet them since it is unlikely they want to move.
