They cost more for a vacant lot than a developed lot, because the vacant lot was priced based on it's potential...the developed lot was "saddled" with the house and it's value.

One of the biggest ways to cut down expenses in retirement is to own your home free & clear, I'm not sure if you'd be doing them a favor by saddling them with a rent payment.

Done badly, and my looking says there are more bad ones that good ones, you can make a really good profit and saddle the investor with a property that will cost them money whether they keep it or sell it.

It also sounds like insurance won't cover this sort of thing, and since the renters generally won't have any assets anyway the landlord just gets saddles with a 20k+ bill plus lost rent.How do you guys sleep at night?
