Please stop asking us for "the best" zip codes to invest in.Detroit has around 183 Residential Neighborhoods - wouldn't it be nice if "some proprety mangagement company" Classified them all as A, B, C, or D on an interactive map that real estate investors could use to make better decisions?

From personal experience, there are multiple issues that can pop up and it is nice to be local to deal with them.

Tax advantages are nice, but not at the expense of losing the principal investment.

I wouldn't get into the home unless I could cover the home expenses on my own , that way I have a little bit of a back stop.Also, with the popularized multi-mountain passes (Epic and Ikon are the big guys), it can make your choice to buy where you ski a little easier, because you can still hop around to other mountains.

As for what it does, it’s nice to get a generally idea of what needs repair and areas to consider and what to look at. 

Traveling nurses would be nice, but not trying to rely on those. 

I know a guy doing it right now here in DFW.

A 3-unit in Wicker Park - when rehabbed nicely - can be worth a LOT of money.
