Single story with concrete slab...maybe that is better although i have never had to get rid of cat urine odor out of either material.  

Using Kilz will help to cover the smoke color and even odor sometimes.

Turn it on near the air return , turn fan to On position, close the house up and let it run for a few days and it will eliminate most odors.

Nope just fresh paint because their was such a strong smoke odor from the previous owner- way to go above and beyond...yeah, right. 

It is oil based so it takes a long time to dry, and has a noxious odor, so I use a mask.
