Hi joe, I were thinking about the house hacking. but I cannot find the ideal property to house hacking so far since I have depends and I am not quite comfortable with rend out bedrooms, unless it's multifamily. finding the multifamily to buy in my market like finding lives in the desert. but I haven't gave up yet, still looking. thanks!!!

When we decided to invest in the hi-desert, we were living in LA at the time, so we knew we could take our own personal vacations there when a house wasn't rented, and we could use it to celebrate our birthdays and holidays, and one day we could potentially retire there.

The other big reason is that STRs in the high desert have a certain look and in order to achieve that look, owners typically have to spend more money in reno to get to that STR look and this includes amenities that your average LTR in the high desert is missing such as outdoor showers, hot tubs, etc.

I like the concept of using the local history or what makes the place unique, like if you're near the ocean decorate it with a beach theme....or mountains use a mountain theme, deserts, etc....My places are in Northern Arizona and the Wild West/Cowboy history is big here, so guess how I decorated our places?

I live in the California Desert so know a bit about AC units, and when it's 118 degrees out, my own AC will run non-stop for at least 10 hours at a stretch, which has never caused it to freeze up.
