Carriage style?  

The property is an big old house and it's adjoining carriage house in Elmwood and has a total of 7 units.

We just bought a home with a carriage house out back in Colorado Springs and are renting both units on Airbnb.

Or even a carriage house/mother-in-law type setup.

Purchase price: $500,000 Cash invested: $200,000 We added a second floor dormer roof addition to the existing house and a new two level carriage house in back.

If you want to get into the game and market but don't have the know how or skills to make it happen that's A-OK, you simply need a good acquisition partner be it a solid REI agent (like myself, shameless plug lol) or a TurnKey Provider(remember to well grease the under carriage as good chance you will be taking it in the.....). 

I live in an historic area where many houses have detached carriage homes that people use as rentals.  

The house which was at one time a single family has been converted to 2 units and a garage/carriage house has been built that is essentially another unit.

There are plenty of multifamily properties in Southside, a few in parts of vestavia/hoover (that area around wisteria drive), and there are some in Cahaba Heights.Another option is to find a home with a back house, guest house, garage apartment, carriage house,etc.  

I'm finishing up a carriage house that cannot have a 'kitchen'.
