We might move back to the East Coast in 4-5 years, so I’m looking for investments that can work well as a primary residence now and a rental property later.Income: Both my girlfriend and I have solid tech salaries (150k+ each).Current Portfolio: I don’t currently own any rental properties.Goal & Long Term Plan: I don’t love my current job so like many of you, I would like to create enough passive income through rental properties to have financial freedom and be able to work business ideas or side projects.

I grew up here and when I came to the city as a travel nurse this summer, the month to month furnished rentals were outrageously expensive, $4000-$5000 a month easily to be in a nice building anywhere in River North, Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, West Loop etc.

Chicago for sure has all 4 seasons, but the winter helps us appreciate summer more lolI don't know zip codes off the top of my head, but some of the prime neighborhoods are Lincoln Park, Gold Coast, Old Town, Lake View, Roscoe Village, Wicker Park, Bucktown.Hope that helps...if you want to link up and talk more let me know.
