@Andrew S.Unless Even if the other units have ducting outside of the conditioned space, I fully expect the OP will see a substantial difference in utility consumption to maintain the living space at the same temperature as the others.However, before ripping out and relocating the present furnace, it may be possible to encase it in a heavily insulated box and thereby mitigate some of the loss presently experienced.

Our preference is to have folks accountable for their own consumption.   

I filed an emergency eviction which resulted in the sherrif escorting her off of the property the day after thanksgiving (6 day from file to eviction since I proved in court that she was a hazard to the property) I have little doubt she was homeless for the holiday and I have no regrets.I am not a monster, again please see my post "I like my tenants" if this post would lead you to believe I am a scumbag.The truth of the matter is I believe with 99.9% certainty that my tenant and her daughter and the gentlemen who were staying the night were using drugs/alcohol to the point that they could not identify a small problem for at least 12 hours.

That's like saying, "Every Martian I've ever met was an alcoholic.

He is a month to month rental. 2 weeks ago he decided to go on a drinking binge ( I did not know he was an alcoholic).

I have had  them take stuff, but to me the worse was when they spray painted the kitchen cabinets and smashed random sides of the cabinet, cracked the glass on the stove, spray painted the inside of the frig and oven, cracked the blocks of the patio and left the spilt alcoholic beverages and ladies underwear all over the hardwood floors. 

I've seen great looking properties that were very well taken care of, and I've seen houses with rats, food, bugs, and spilled alcohol everywhere. 

I used to rent in a building with college kids in it, I’d say they are kids and once they have some alcohol in, u really don’t know how the party would go ;)

Alcohol was involved, my renters are refinery contractors.
