If you make false statements over the computer or telephone about your experience or the performance of your past investments and it induces someone to send you money that is what the government calls "wire fraud."

It's really sad to see- so many smart, motivated people that could have had success if they worked with someone who could provide high level STR support and guidance.To make it worse, I see and hear a lot of agents struggling right now and spinning a false or embellished tale of their experience and knowledge, in order to get some business.
