Part of the land had previously been a railroad right-of-way, another part was previously submerged under a major river that was moved in the 1920s by the Army Corps of Engineers, and yet another part was a fairly substantial canal town that was completely wiped off the map by the railroad in the 1870s.

Once I am out of the Army I think our savings rate will go up quite a bit, because I will have more flexibility in being able to live close to work, and may be able to get rid of a car and choose a more profitable home (like a fourplex).Anyways, I think that by combining Mustachian living with the potential profits available with smart real estate investing, financial independence can be had very quickly.

Here are my two cents, more like four actuallyWorking with Large banks like wells fargo, Bank of America might not be the best idea as they are going based of your Income in home country (Indian/UK) which means even if they end up lending you with their crazy terms (like 60% LTV, PMI), it might not be good enough since they won't lend you for more than 1-2 properties based on your income in home country.
