And during a hyperinflationary period, gold is much less useful than other things -- like guns, food, etc -- things that we would never consider backing our currency with.So, during inflationary and hyper inflationary periods, there is nothing intrinsic about gold that makes it better or worse than other typical fiat currencies.And, the big difference between the US and hyperinflation in other countries is that the US can produce enough grain, clean water, and fuel to help ensure that the trademark effects of hyperinflation won't occur very easily...if at all...in this country anytime in the near future...
