in the state of Florida you have to make an efficiency legal if it has a full kitchen including a stove.. but the room I rented is just a room with bathroom and closet and has a privacy entrance to the backyard...

We save our left over doors from apartment renovations, frame up a doorway and walls out of 2x4's, and OSB plywood the walls to create privacy for the storage rooms.

Well this is a late chime-in from a Broker's perspective...I agree that an Agent may be reluctant to provide contact information for past clients for privacy reasons to start. 

We only paid 2,000 for a privacy fence because the company that put the fence in messed it up...so although we have some gaps in our fence it was half price.  3,500 for interior improvements including painting, plumbing fixtures, new dishwasher, vinyl plank flooring, some new baseboards, kitchen backsplash, and bathroom floor (peel and stick groutable tiles).

Ditto with Nevada or Wyoming if you want an LLC with greater privacy. 

I can see some major arguments about right to privacy, king of castle type laws.Personally I think it is BS and more proof of the power of big business lobby, but no one has elected me as their rep in DC.

However, you are running into privacy laws at that point and that service member could make a major deal about that.....pursuing a lawsuit going down that path.

My value proposition is you get a yard and a garage with my "house", park at your front door, a certain degree of privacy, etc.
