Hi Mark, if you're pulling the carpet out I would also apply a coat of the oil base primer on the subfloor, (especially if it is plywood) in addition to the ceilings and walls, to cover any odors that have permeated that surface.

A buyer is going to look at it and see only the surface but standards of practice for home inspectors nationnaly are that the inspector will take the cover off and inspect the wiring.

It’s advised not to take a basement if yours is a creative field or else you will have to spend lots of money to illuminate the space.People spend lots of money unnecessarily on fancy ceilings, but the current trend is of no ceilings; exposed surfaces can look elegant.
