The situation needs to be treated professionally and if it is a heavy infestation you will likely need to treat surrounding units or possibly all units.

Your description sounds like a low income, crime infested, heavy traffic neighborhood, near the freeway.

I bought a property in Florida that had not only a German cockroach infestation, but also a very bad flea infestation.

A good area and a non bug infested home are top priorities.

The state inspector said there are 2 types of homes, those who have had termites (and show prior evidence but have been treated showing no active infestation) and those who will have termites.

And when I had spider infestation at the property the exterminator advised us to clear the area of grass next to the house, and the landscaper came and did that.

I would steer clear of that area, as it's one of the most crime infested areas of South Florida.  

I won't go into all the problems but structural damage, infestations, major drywall and tile damage are just a few.
