German Roach Problem! Tent Fumigation Worth It?

Chris Dinger
Posted

Hello community. I searched the internet and these boards and couldn't find an answer to my consideration.

I currently have a single family house that is infestested with German roaches from top to bottom. I had a terrible tenant finally vacate and the place is nasty. There's no junk left in the house, but it's dirty with plenty of food sources for these critters. Upon opening the front door, a waterfall of roaches fell on me. That's how bad it is.

I did purchase some Phantom spray and a growth regulator and sprayed throughout. I feel confident between cleaning and these products, I can get the problem under control eventually. However, I'm wondering if it would be more cost effective to just tent fumimate the entire house and start fresh. I have a proposal in for $1400 and they can start in a week. Given that I get $1300/mo for this house, if I could save myself a month or two of fighting these guys and re-rent quicker, it would seem like the tent fumigation route would be the best plan.

Am I thinking this through correctly? The options I'm considering are:

1. DIY Treatment. Professional cleaning. More treatment. This option is only cheaper if I can eliminate most of the issue and re-rent in a month or so. Not worth it if it will take months to get property rent ready.

2. Tent fumigation. Professional cleaning. This option is only cheaper if it successfully eliminates the problem immediately and allows me to get this on the market much quicker.

Thoughts?
