Or, if they sue both the LLC the property is held in, and the parent LLC, would it open up exposure to other LLC's owned by the parent LLC (i.e. other property holding LLC that I have?).

I would hazard a guess that 90% of all investors that ever made any serious money in real estate did it the old fashioned way - they bought the property and held the property, the same way that 90% of all investors that ever made any serious money in the stock market did.

While selling your properties could provide the liquidity you need, you definitely want to consider the tax implications, especially if any of the properties were held for less than 12 months, as those will be taxed at a higher short-term capital gains rate.However, if selling isn’t your only option, I would strongly recommend looking into a cash-out refinance.
