You really have to know your sponsor and the offering they are providing.Also passive investing has changed significantly over the past five years since technology and other factors have opened the door for a lot more sponsors (which is good and bad).Just remember typically a syndication is an investment in a single deal, so it may have more upside and downside - if you are looking for something more risk averse then a fund is another option since it’s a portfolio of assets.
