As he stated, you may not want to hear that, but often, this example holds true with many items related to rehabbing.Here is one that I have done several times in the past that does work out with the math.Demo floor tile:Typically, my installers here will charge $.75 to $1 per sq. ft for the demo and removal of the tile.I have been able to demo 300 sq. ft of tile (inlcuding time to dump in container) in approx 2 hours (I have the right power tool) and since I order and pay for the dumpster already, I just wheel it out and toss it in the dumpster.

There are some items you can have multiple contractors doing their thing at the same time. i.e. the roofer can be working while demo is going on inside... the bathroom tile work can be done at the same time your kitchen cabinets are being installed etc.

True, the demo in LA tends to be much hipper, but a high-end market is still MUCH more educated and demanding of good design, no matter the location.
