If the thermostat is set too low it will develop ice/frost on the coil inside of the unit.

The most common issues are dirty air filters, bad capacitors (usually go out in summer and can be ordered for less than $10 on Amazon), bad breakers (usually trip in winter with electric step heat), dirty coils (I clean coils during tenant turnovers), bad thermostats, and low refrigerant.

Something about the thermostat showing 120F tends to discourage vacationers.

Looks very similar to the August options and would pair nicely with a Nest thermostat.

I've heard of thermostats that you can restrict to a predetermined range.

You can travel over with a couple thermometers and hang out for 15 minutes to verify if there's a disparity between the thermostat and the room temperature.
