Respectfully, I don't understand the logic of resisting a $500 homeowner's policy to cover an $80,000 home.

Their resistance is they believe nobody has cash for a 10-20% down and that everybody has horrible credit.

While there are several manufacturers who use a wax-like coating on the edges that reduces movement and helps resist water penetration, It is a risk I wont take.

Either way, I had a problem solved, I just chose the path of least resistance.
