In fact, the politicians who are exploiting rent control are willing to lose tax revenue for the municipalities that they claim to "care so much" about as assessments will be lowered when properties begin to sell for less because their incomes have been reduced and therefore devalued the property.Rent control is only about votes for slimy and power hungry politicians.

So, we will have a rapid recovery due to the suppression of markets releasing (that's what lock down is, a suppression not a decline) and the inflation will push things to appear as all-new heights (this is where politician fill-in-the-blank will take credit for things being "better than ever" because the DOW tells him so)There ya go, my 3 cents worth.

When local governments have statisticians confirming population growth--and no interest in passing a State Income Tax--then local politicians can be expected to boost property taxes as a way to budget their "great ideas" and other "pet projects" which ensured their elections. 

Throw this in front of a politician and on the front page of a paper and get in the crosshairs of a state authority and good luck.

Good post, Heathen.If those among us with good conscience do not stand up, accept responsibility and make ourselves heard -- whether as civic leaders or their supporters --then we will surely get the politicians we 'deserve'.

I watch unfunded liabilities and unfunded pension plans because the two obvious solutions politicians will choose are 1. raising taxes or 2. declaring bankruptcy.

Maybe you could buy some stock in in the defense contractors and get some of that $40 billion action the politicians are sending to Ukraine to keep their war going.
