Wouldn't hurt to consult a tax pro just to make sure there isn't a more tax effective strategy but I don't think lending provides any tax shelter.

@Anthony Finelli check your mortgage paperwork for the Truth-In-Lending form to find your APR.APR is your effective interest rate including interest, MIP and closing costs.If you can refinance the rental at a cheaper rate than the APR, then you should!

You just need an LLC of of a state that doesn't disclose, that owns the LLC that will own the property.What I recommend, for any asset you buy in any location, especially fo an A Class asset that will likely have little to no cash flow, is that you evaluate your potential CapEx expenses effectively.
