Horizontal or Vertical more hard wearing for renters?

I do 24 places on a big sheet of cardboard with 24 horizontal rows and 5 sets of 7 vertical rows. 

Should I have him fix the mistake and redo it horizontally on his dime?

If it's tile replace the wall mirror with a large decorative mirror that has a substantial frame and hang it horizontally so it covers most that wall.

@Andrew Schrader you can also get some window screens that extend horizontally to stick in your windows with no screens.
