I moved here from Florida as well.I love house hacking here in Columbus because you can get into the higher priced areas that will appreciate the fastest and leverage your money very effectively.

I am a big believer that as the major cities in Texas grow they will grow fastest towards each other.

Columbus is one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S. so it's a great appreciation market, and you can still get your properties to cash-flow here!
