This is not to say you cannot invest in other markets, but go try and build or own a multifamily building in boston, compared to miami compared to california.

I'm looking at properties here (basically anything east of worcester and within an hour of Boston.

The market is extremely hot around Boston/north of Boston so I continue to expand my search area but I am getting into markets I don't know very well.

This includes transportation costs such as gas, airfare, rental car fees, and lodging expenses while away from home.

Try to research and get a sense of any new exciting development in the area, be it hospitals, parks/walkways, transportation, etc., which will drive value to the area. 

Both have great public transportation access and are already seeing new development happening on the regular.What dollar value of a property can you purchase currently?

@Grayson Lynum Regarding Modular, I have gone down that rabbit hole several times, and what I found it, they are not cheaper, just faster, and they look like a modular, due to the transportation limitations, the rectangle box or Prow front on mods tend to have a stigma to buyers, also many of the finishes are very low end. if you site built a very basic rectangle with the same cheap finishes most mods come with, you will be financially better off. and they are not faster, typically from order to occupancy is 6-9 months, I did my last spec in 7 mo. its just not as much work on site, the time is waiting for the factory to get to your build. good luck!
