Obviously if you are considering str you will want to look into more destination areas, foothills and/or coastal or even areas near stadiums and/or lakes (which we have tons to choose from).

You could start off with just 1 or 2 units as vacation rentals and ramp up if it went well or go back to leases if it wasn't.I usually think of ABNB vacation rentals as something for major tourist destinations like Las Vegas, ski resorts, beach towns etc, but that doesn't mean it wont work elsewhere.

My father owned tourism based businesses, and liquidated a few years ago, his contacts got him onto a group who buy property management rights, they offered him a buy in to the next property, a resort on the Gold Coast (one of the most popular tourist destinations in Australia), this investment (which was thoroughly looked over by his accountant and lawyer) over the past 3 years has been netting him on average 18% per year, passively.
