Hey Henry, I floated the idea of building a tiny home in the LA area about a year ago.

Not to mention, tying up half a million in 1 tiny box is a significant chunk of my net worth.The Next StepsOnce I decided that I would sell my condo, I had to consider multiple factors: 1)Where to invest?

In fact, one of the reasons I have yet to push through and finish my dissertation is this realization that after all that investment in myself, I will be no closer to the life I want to live and many of you are enjoying.Sob story aside & tiny violin back in its case, I do plan on finishing my education, if for no other reason than to finish what I start, even if it never comes into play in a future career.  

She, her 2 kids and a large dog are in that little tiny 794 sq ft. condo..

These are tiny tiny efficiencies anywhere from 250-400 sq. ft.

I might not need it for the lawsuit, but I could pay off a tiny loan on another property with it and eliminate a $400/month loan payment 6 years early.

In the middle of the house was a massive (and useless) 750 sq ft great room and not only were there no closets except for the tiny 8' X 2' closets in each bed, there were no other rooms.  4 beds, 2 baths, kitchen, great room - and there was *zero* storage anywhere.I worked my butt off to try to sell it including showings, 16 open houses, about 3,000 miles on my car, tons of paid advertising.  

I'm interested in mobile home parks, self-storage, tiny houses, and short term rentals. 

We're running similar numbers at our family residence, a 3300 sq ft Victorian in a beautiful, small, gold rush, tourist town in CA....walking distance to the historic downtown which enables us to rent out a tiny studio apartment on the first floor via Airbnb for 3-4 times the rate of a long term renter.Also, converted one of the master bedrooms with a private exterior entrance into another small studio by simply closing off an interior door, renting that out, too.Leaving our family with a high end, private 2500 sq ft house with 4 beds/2 ba, family room, dining, living, garage, etc.

The budget is $400k with a tiny bit wiggle room.
