if it is unsecured loan that is the consequence, you lose they entire thing. as far as tax write off, sorry but none.

So if you are using that site or something similar you could very well over pay for the home.

This is partially because we lose the OTA protections and partially to make sure we follow the same procedures for all residents (fair housing laws are important to follow). 

We'll lose money for 75-90 days but the new rent is market so some will stay and not forcing people that can't afford it to move in the middle of a very cold winter I think buys a tiny bit of good will and is the decent thing to do.

Some properties actually lose money each month but gain value through appreciation.

I was unmotivated when I posted this and was blaming it on the site, but it was how I was interacting with the site, not the site.

It is a great site, but can be a bit daunting especially as you go down the rabbit holes of all the different options.
