I can think of one particular listing that has been sitting forever.

If I am incorrect, you probably need to pay the mortgage anyways since they can now foreclosure since the property isn't owned by a veteran anymore the SCRA shouldn't apply and even if the lender doesn't realize it it won't apply forever and you'll eventually need to pay it PLUS the amount is rising with interest, fees etc.

If they are taking forever to respond or they are less than articulate, thus creating an ambiguity, I go elsewhere.

I'd fight like hell to get a 2-4 unit in a very desirable north side neighborhood and hold on to that place forever.

Find a way to finance this property so you can hold it forever, then repeat every time you move.

They typically do not add value to the house, so when the buyers are looking at comparables, none of them sit there and say...well every other house sold for $200,000, but my gosh this one has solar panels....let's pay $240,000 for this one.Maybe one day, maybe someplace, but NOT today in NJ I expect.Only way I would even look at solar panels is if it is for your forever house, and you have enough land to install them on the ground, not on the roof....so maybe if you have 1-5 acres or more. 

We have decided not to flip this as this is our forever home.

Real estate is best served by holding it forever, at least the way our current tax system is designed.
