This can be caused by condensation.

Condenser theft is very common here in SW Florida so there are a lot of people installing cages for cheap.

The other issue with those in FL is the air coming in is humid and your house is cooler so it will condense and can encourage mold and mildew growth.Now if they're the casement style cranks then leave them alone as I'm sure you won't likely increase your value by that much in the area.

Is it also a condensing unit?  

I've had two condenser units on two different houses stolen (one was just the copper) in the last few weeks.

For example, a cold water supply pipe above that vent might have warm moist bathroom air from the downstairs shower/bath migrate and condense on the cold surface causing a drip drop minor leak.

This has been the issue for me in the past and it is amazing how much condensation develops in just one day.

But I'm very busy building my business to boost my profits and don't have the time to wade through everything.It makes more fiscal sense to spend the money to get the condensed version, then it does to take those countless hours away from work to learn bits and pieces here and there.
