There was a Fair Housing writeup on this, which more or less boiled down to: using convictions, especially minor ones, as a sole means for determining applicant suitability, can be considered discriminatory in nature because minorities are disproportionately affected by the legal system.

In my area, I never seen Banks more willing to negotiate and be creative with their distressed assets especially at the end of their fiscal quarters.If you are willing to expand your geographical area of ownership, you should certainly be able to find a suitable property.
