I think my position is a bit more complex than your average investor since:1) I am brand new and have been shopping for a good CPA to no avail for a month.2) I need to shelter risky assets as best as possible (which may include anonymity)3) I am looking to aggressively expand over the next 12 months into different states for short-term rentals, which have volatile regulations.4) My expected income for 2018 has a very wide band thus leaving room for the need for constant advice and dynamic planningThanks so much for any thoughts.

I didn't exclude the rental income from real estate and it doesn't matter if you include or exclude it because the dynamic is the same, as you'll understand from the example below.

By going in and telling her that I would buy the property for X dollars in cash, I understandably lost her trust and totally misread the situation, but it made it obvious to me how people that are not market savvy put their faith and trust in real estate professionals.Because wholesalers operate beyond the bounds of this 'fiduciary responsibility,' while their contracts may be legal and above board, the dynamic they have with the seller is not necessarily so.

If all of this works well once they eventually decide to move I can sale the home for around $250,000 x 7% for the # of years they rented.I took this all the way out and made a ton of assumptions just to get the dynamics out for discussion.
