To not do that and rent it out right away is fraud and you can be prosecuted for violating the law.Of course there are exceptions and hardship rules with which you need to be familiar with.

For example here in FL if the tenant writes me a bad check I can send a certified letter with certain verbiage and if they don't pay the check amount and fee within the specified time I can turn it over to the state's attorney for prosecution.

I remember when the OFAC law came around and everybody, including crack head Susan was telling people you will go to jail if you don't follow the law, and I don't know anyone that went to jail of was given a fine but yes the OFAC law is real and should be a follower Joe Gore Joe-Apparently you missed the 24 people that have been criminally prosecuted so far this year on OFAC violations, or the $ 103,901,728.00 in fines.

There has been a lot of fraud in this area, where borrower say that they are going to live in the property and sign a paper that they will do so for at least a year, that the penalties have grown over time as well as the prosecutions.
