Mark, I live in Branson, a tourist area of Missouri.  

@Raquel Doheny  thank you.. if you have never been to Charleston I highly recommend it.. its a great tourist town.. shopping food culture history.. and there is a section called south of Broad with museum quality mansions one after another.. horse drawn carriage rides etc.we just snagged a lot there and will do our first multi million dollar build.. not big dollars like SF Bay ARea or at least the Peninsula but pretty heady stuff for South East.

We are a destination the world over for tourist and foreign nations seeking a better life.  

But we’ve found frugal things that just work in our lives, we love hiking, so when we travel we skip the tourist traps and just go for a nice hike.We also are into travel hacking, so this summer alone we’ve already been to Florida, California, Alaska as a family, and we’ll be traveling by myself on a backpacking trip with some buds in yosemite in two weeks.

Considering that the houing and manufacturing sectors have taken the brunt of this recession, that's a great sign;- The European Union is seeing a growth surge, indicating that the worldwide recession is slowing down.
