On Quora, you check off a bunch of topics you're interested in and get presented with a list of questions, then can pick and choose which to answer.Do you want answers from someone on a real estate forum, or someone picking your question out of a list about sandwiches, real estate, breeding toy poodles, gender politics, and Canadian tourism?

I've been listening to the BiggerPockets podcasts and have also been reading some real estate and investment books (mostly based on the recommendations at the end of the podcasts).As a non-resident of Canada, I would be eager for any advice from other non-residents that have invested in Canadian real estate.

Are any of our Canadian Pros willing to share information in this regard? 

Account ClosedIf you think prices are inflated on the US side of the border, you're definitely looking in the wrong place if you think there are better deals on the Canadian side.  

I bought a home at auction in October '15 for 19K, had 17K or rehab, and am now going through appraisal process with Royal United.

Another good reference for you - as a Canadian planning to purchase in Canada - is Pierre Boron and @Claude Boron's "Commercial Real Estate Investing in Canada".  

Canadian tax law ....as well as most countries from my understanding, is vague on purpose (the use of the word "usually").

I'm avoiding the phone calls from those asking me to "discuss issues with them" as this typically means some sob story about their sad and depressing life on how they screwed up royally more than once and how I, as a landlord, am supposed give them one more chance by turning over to someone who has made many mistakes in their life a property worth many thousands of dollars.  

I buy the low end so if I screw up royally, I won't get hurt too bad.
