It is a very long process as those use to a certain way want to maintain the status quo and as the younger generations come along they are more quick to embrace something new and a different way to live.

If I wanted to dress 'cutting edge': I know plenty of women who have style sense and would gladly take me to the relevant stores to show me what to buy to make me look nice.

Brick by brick, house by house, I really love and try to embrace the working at it every day and every now and then looking back to see all that I have accomplished.
