I am working on a deal where the heirs say "the state owns it" and when I call the treasurer, they say that the property is in the decedent's name.

Some states You can contact the Treasurer of that county & for a few hundred dollars they will do the paperwork for you other states You have to do a Judicial Process with an attorney.3 - "Hybrid State" these are states where they call them a Deed State, but You read their process & they do not actually sell the property but rather it provides either a high interest and/or penalty rate & after the state statutes time elapse.

They made the observation that I was financially astute, I countered that I was a CPA and the next thing I know, the president nominated me to the position of treasurer within about 10 minutes.If you show up and sound like you want to take action and you're half way knowledgeable, you'll find yourself on the other side of the table so fast your head will spin.
