Brian Butterfield Difficulty finding the right contractor to fit my business
26 August 2015 | 51 replies
I think the solution is hiring a Project Manager also, and finding labor only contractors, I have no problem working for labor only contracts, but if my guys show up, and materials are not there, they have to pay the whole day if they cancel, or pay the hours of waiting for materials to arrive, there is no way I'm paying for the owner/clients short comings. Also I am reading that his subs don't have enough crew or skill to run more than a few jobs, that's why he is looking for more subs.To the OP, you might need to get a good superintendent for your needs, there is nothing better than in-house crew, however, it is a lot of work to manage it, as all the profit risk falls on you, that means, if you estimate a job at 800 hours, and it consumes 1000 hours, then you will at least lose 200 hrs * rate/hr.
