MOVING WALLS

HI GUYS. I AM FROM LONG ISLAND NY. I WANT TO BUY A HOUSE TO RENT WHICH NEEDS REPAIR. IF I WANT TO MOVE SOME WALLS WITHIN THE HOUSE, DO I NEED TO CONTACT THE TOWN FOR PERMISSION? OR IS IT BETTER NOT TO SAY ANYTHING? IN THE FUTURE, WHEN I WANT TO SELL IT, COULD I POSSIBLY HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE TOWN SUCH AS NEEDING A C.O. FOR THE CHANGES?  I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INFORMATION. THANK YOU.   GERRY
