You have to complete Schedule E if you have rentals.You should check if the turbo tax premier version allows the filing of Schedule E.With that said, using a software like Turbo Tax will assume you to understand what is deductible.If you work with a tax professional, you are more likely to have an accurate return.

It's worth about $350,000 and no liens.I was thinking about making it a midterm rental or a short-term rental but it would require quite a bit of work and would require getting a home equity loan.Also considering selling and buying a turnkey str.I do plan on leaving the country and I'm not sure where I'll end up.Would love to hear the pros and cons from all you professionals.

Hey @Brett Baker, generally, any place with a great water view or directly on the water will bring more revenue.Of course profitability will all be based on purchase price and prevailing nightly rates in the area.If you find a cool 2/2 or 3/2 right on the water with a great view for 1.5m or a 2/2 or 3/2 house a block away for 600k, then I would look at the house over the condo.

Toby Fellows Do I have to register with a broker if I want to get my real estate license?

@Toby FellowsYou are correct, you need to ‘hang’ your license under a broker in order to practice real estate, and most brokerages require you to become a member of the National Association of Realtors as well.While you are preparing and taking your courses, contact several brokers and interview them to find out who might be a good fit.
