Can you imagine a politician telling the largest voting block that they will do nothing to change a 25% decrease in their income?  

When I think of Chicago, I think of over-price, over-regulated, city of corruption (at least 2 politicians in federal prison I think) that's located in a fiscally unsound state.

"No state or local agency shall post the home address or telephone number of any elected or appointed official on the Internet"The trouble on that record is that the home is owned by a politician, and after one was murdered or harassed some years back they changed the law to exempt themselves from being in the public record.

I have plenty of other examples where the city wants us to do something dumb, because a politician is pushing an agenda. 

I used Japan as an example of rates being set by politicians and not the market.

However, I think there are fairly few bad LL and that these rules often are 1) addressing problems that are rare 2) create problems that the politicians are too stupid to see.

Politicians decide business is not “politically correct”, hurting their campaign contributors, costing them taxes they could be buying votes with, and the new left doesn’t like the business because they believe that housing is in the public domain and not private property.
