So I provide blinds and usually the faux-wood plantation style that are a little more expensive but it makes for a better impression on prospective tenants  and I charge for any that are damaged upon exit. 

I do 2" faux wood blinds for window coverings in many apartments and I usually get them from JCPenny on sale.

There are some unscrupulous agents that have been busted for making jewelry & medications disappear during showings.

After removing ~5 tonnes of lath & plaster; replacing some structure damaged in a chimney fire in the building's past {estimated to have occurred prior to the 1930s before electricity was installed}; reconfiguring the space layout in half od the house {(re)moving 5 walls}; fixing additional structural and electrical faux pas by the prior owners and levelling the floors, we added ~3 inches of spray foam insulation (R18) into the wall cavities; rewired the house; and replaced all the original single pane, built in-place windows with Energy Star rated, triple-pane, windows {with glazings specific to their orientation}.We put the electric base-board heaters back in-place; by code we need to retain them as an auxiliary heat source to the ductless mini-split heat pump (2 heads) being installed next week.We are now finishing painting and trim.

One issue on the second property was problematic, and we couldn't realistically address it before closing (a small soft spot in one floor, nothing structural just a little bubble under the faux-hardwood flooring where the floor had shifted a bit over the years). 

Have you tried posting a faux Craigslist ad to gauge rental interest in that area?

We did our home in Palm Springs and found great deals at Living Spaces, Tuesday Morning, BBB , Marshalls,  Ross, Overstock , Amazon, West Elm (clearance) and awesome vintage stuff at Revivals , a resale shop.

A good agent wont turn away your business for one minor faux pas.
