For the sake of the discussion, I'm thinking about big houses like Century 21, Long & Foster, and Keller/Williams, though I'd be interested to know if the process varies from the big guys to the smaller boutique operations.

Century 21.

I have 45k left on the mortgage, and it was appraised last year for 115k (whatever that's worth...). it now rents for $700, and have had long term tenants with zero issues for a while (shout out to Century 21 Eagle Cap Realty in La Grande, OR). 

I'm pretty far from landlord of the century status, though. 

Turn of the century buildings were built with materials and craftsmanship that just doesn't exist today.

It might be a lot cheaper than pulling all that out  and it would look very mid-century hip, IMO. 

I lived in a variety of neighborhoods in LA, most recently Century City.I'm interested in the Austin market as well, and if you got in 8 years ago, I assume you've been on a bit of a rollercoaster ride?  

Are these $89K homes a century old?
