I think what I have learned out of that experience is to spend a little more time on what all of my goals are and do a better job prioritizing them. 

I would prioritize finding an accountant who specializes in real estate taxation over one that is local.There are 20+ accountants on this message board who specialize in real estate taxation.

I'd start by thinking about which features you prioritize (this could be tenant management, online rent collection, rental accounting, etc.) and then narrow it down from there. 

It may help to prioritize the features you are looking for. 

I highly recommend Epson Workforce cloud ready printers with their document feeders.TrelloOn top of Google Drive we use Trello to organize track and collaborate.

Those are really the only areas on the property where I'd prioritize making some changes.

We prioritize this over reviews from past landlords because past landlords are typically not truthful because they may want to get rid of tenant.

I'm a rookie so would love to connect with other local investors and people in the real estate industry to learn from and possibly collaborate with in the future.
