My HA doesn't pay market rents, they insist on year leases (I only rent MTM), and our Sec 8 inspector is over-the-top: I was once failed for some loose veneer trim on a vanity, and a shower head escushion plate that wasn't caulked to the wall.If HUD really wanted to encourage property owners to accept Section 8, they need to look at where they are creating a competitive disadvantage for themselves in their local program.

They ended up buying a toaster oven and a hot plate to do some simple cooking on which I paid for half of (about $50) and then I offered them (they did not even make a request) a $200 credit on the next month's rent because of the inconvenience.I agree that going without a stove and oven is a pretty major inconvenience - they couldn't cook at all.
