I have quite a few houses in my neighborhood ( I live in an incorporated village) that seem to look very run down, grass is overgrown, house is basically falling apart, although some of the houses have a car in the driveway, some of them have notices on the front doors or in the yard.

If not, ask for leases and you could also go to your town/city/village and ask to see water bills (Unsure if this is public info or not so find out) and you could always ask for copies of utility bills.

I've toyed with the idea of Ogden Valley and Powder Mountain since the goal of the new ownership there is to build a village and turn it into a Park City style area, but it's already priced like it's Park City.Even the mediocre western ski destinations have exorbitant real estate pricing.
