My contractor would do that demo job for around $4000-$5000 out here in AZ.

If you are doing the demo yourself, look into the protective gear you need so you don't breathe it in or get it in your eyes (I'm not a contractor but my understanding is that asbestos fibers are very tiny and there are specific items you will need to properly protect yourself). 

Since you already got red tagged maybe you can tell them you aren't planning to spend over $1,500 on demo because you're doing it yourself.. but you should make contact with the inspector and start getting your permit lined up to avoid issues down the road.

If it was a kitchen fire caused by grease, maybe I'd buy, but it depends on how extensive the damage is.You never get the smell out of the wallboard and wood so plan on it being a major demo and rehab. 

The house is completely unrentable.The only solution I can come up with is demo everything and remodel it myself the best I can.

At some point down the line, one of the occupants is exposed to fentanyl (maybe through doing demo work) and dies. 

But I hope I get proved wrong 😂I'm going to get the HEPA filter and bag for my shop vac - wear all the PPE when continuing to demo the garage, maybe hire someone to do it - and get a dry fogger to spray the heck out of the house and the garage.
