What is the cost of interior demolition?

I just bought a 600 square foot property and I got a quote for $8500 to completely gut the interior and basement (Plaster walls/ceilings, cabinets, bathroom, trim, some carpet, and a few rotten walls, bathroom, and drywall in basement). Does this seem a bit pricey or about right?

Two high school kids, 40 hours at 2@$25 each (total $50 per hour) is $2,000 plus $500 for a dumpster and a couple of pizzas a day.

Make sure you record it, they'll love showing it to their friends.
