My first post :) I'm new to REI and followed the shiny into buying ($390) and attending a goofy 3-day workshop (currently sitting in Day 2 in Danvers, MA) on tax lien buying by TAX LIEN WEALTH BUILDERS, previously known as UNITED TAX LIENS, founded by Jay Drexel, who also built MarketPlacePro.It's been almost useless, a giant patronizing waste of time (as @John Underwood and @Ned Carey has driven home - don't pay for education you could obtain more quickly and thoroughly on the googs or through networking), but an interesting exercise in appreciating their polished presentations, sales strategies, and trying to understand what these people's actual business model is by reading between the lines of all the shiny idealized and exaggerated examples of rapid wealth generation.

There are some commercial banks who will refinance entire portfolios (SFR and MFR) is one giant loan.

But on the plus side, we were told that someone had spent about fifteen thousand dollars tuck pointing the giant front porch.

We are either shady LLCs, giant faceless corporations, or just some random mean old guy.Experiences with slumlords who wont do maintenance. lots of reasons to hate us. we're bill collectors who are also preventing them from having pets and telling them they need to mow their lawn...

Deals run fast and taking up investors time (in the real world, not here as this forum is for asking questions <just better ones>) without full info is a giant negative.

Giant fourplex old Victorian is going to need repairs consistently and your paying 16 bucks in taxes ?

Think of those giant Adirondack chairs at every cruise port or beach destination. 

Some of these books are very American...I can see past this but something with a more UK or European outlook may be a good idea to go with the above.Feel free to add some suggestions....Have a great weekend 😀
